Skinny Bombers, also known as Power Bombers, were larger Crazy Bones. There are 6 characters in the European version and 8 in the Portugal/Canada versions.

The release and production windows of these figures is a bit confusing, but they can technically be split into two different sets of Gogo's. The first 6 resemble the later full bodied style of classic Gogo's and were released around the same timeframe as the Buddies series. The final 9 characters on European checklists, which are based on popular characters from the original series from 1996, seems to have released long before the others in Spain and Canada. This can also be proven by the fact that the artwork for these characters are drawn in two completely different styles.

At some point, these two sets of seven were combined into one set of 14 figures for European markets. The original seven figures had their art redrawn for this release. The characters are unnamed on checklists provided for it.

Collecting[]

The way to obtain these characters seems to have differed significantly depending on where they were sold.

  • In the United Kingdom, two figures could be purchased inside a plastic coffin and they were named Mega Crazy Bones.
  • Germany sold all 14 figures in the standard foil packs that Gogo's were packaged in at the time, including one of the 14 bones, as well one larger "super sticker" and some gum. They were released alongside the elusive Mega Aliens.
  • Spain and Portugal seems to have featured the older 9 figures in a promotion with Coca-Cola.
  • Canada also only had the older 9 figures packaged in a blister pack, where they came in packs of two alongside stickers. They were referred to as Power Bombers Series 2. Very few images are available of this release, making it one of the rarest.
  • The USA release was much later (around 2009) and was only available for purchase on the classic Crazy Bones website's online shop. The release once again only featured the older 9 characters, and strangely did not have any sort of packaging whatsoever, implying that they were leftover stock from some kind of promotion.

The checklist provided below is from the German release, which combines both sets of figures into one.

Trivia[]

  • The name Skinny Bombers were never on the packaging, but was the name given to the series on the official Crazy Bones website.
  • While half of the collection is based on classic characters, the other half seems to be full of brand new characters not based on anything prior.
  • The remastered artwork for Mega Pig Tails shows her gritting her teeth and frowning instead of grinning like the figure and the original artwork show.
  • If one counts the USA shop release of these figures, they are the final classic Gogo's to be released, as they were listed onto the shop in 2009, during the modern Gogo's era.
